Suddenly. - Plötsligt. Plötsligt, efter månader av känslan av kraftlöshet (den jag avskyr mest av allt på jorden), är den där - kraften, flytet. Flytet behöver kraft för att "släppa loss", det är en förutsättning. Jag har ett inre driv som driver mig oavsett hur jag mår, vad jag upplever i livet och vad jag tänker. Det är min styrka och min svaghet. Ibland gör den slut på mig. Men den får mig alltid vidare, får mig att stiga upp även om jag bara vill gråta. I mitt fall har drivet en koppling till det jag gör. Jag kände det första gången jag satte mig bakom ett trumset som 13-åring. Efter det drogs jag in i anorexians mörka grepp ett tag, men när livet vägrade låta mig gå, var trummorna där (och en fantastisk latinamerikansk trummis, Marcus Bocchia Migoya, som först backade när han såg min utmärglade kropp men sedan utvecklade en stark tro på mig). The flow needs strength to let loose, it’s a prerequisite. I have an inner drive that propels me regardless of how I feel, what I experience in life, and what I think. It is my strength and my weakness. Sometimes, it wears me out. But it always pushes me forward and gets me to rise even when I just want to cry. In my case, this drive is connected to what I do. I felt it the first time I sat behind a drum set at 13. Roots. - Rötter. Jag är inspirerad. Träffad av det starka uttrycket i Mats Ek’s balett "Hon var svart" som jag såg igår på Den Norske Operan. Inspiration kan vara så mycket: en idé som kommer inifrån, musik jag vill sätta på repeat, en vacker syn, olika artisters processer och verk. Föreställningen jag såg igår ryckte i mina rötter. Den hade en stark genklang i mig. Jag kände igen språket, kände det i linjerna, rörelserna, i musiken. Tårarna rann längs kinderna. Resonans med en inre sorg, längtan och min starka önskan att uttrycka detta tomrum inom mig. Det inspirerar, även om det gör ont. Det ska kännas, annars blir det ju ingenting… Ont är ok så länge det inte fastnar. Varmt tack till min fantastiska, inspirerande väninna som tog med mig. Pia, du är guld. Roots. I am inspired. I was struck by the powerful expression in Mats Ek’s ballet "She Was Black" which I saw yesterday at the Norwegian National Opera. Inspiration can come from many sources: an idea from within, music I want to put on repeat, a beautiful sight, or various artists' processes and works. The performance I saw yesterday pulled at my roots. It resonated deeply with me. I recognized the language and felt it in the lines, the movements, and the music. Tears ran down my cheeks. It resonated with an inner sorrow, longing, and my strong desire to express this emptiness within me. It inspires, even though it hurts. It must be felt, otherwise, it means nothing… Pain is okay as long as it doesn't get stuck. Setbacks. - Motgångar Innan resan hann början har jag redan upplevt motgång. Det är en del av det att arbeta som jag. ibland stoppar det tyvärr hela processen men inte denna gång. Det som hände vara att jag presenterat min ide för ett inspirerande ställe mitt i Oslo , de var positiva och vi hade t.om. satt ett ungefärligt datum. Men, nu visar det sig att de tar en tid för “reflektion” över vägen vidare (kanske pga pengar, vad vet jag) så min idé är “on hold”, i alla fall för att framföra hos dem. De gånger motgångar inte stoppar processen kan de understryka tilliten till idéen, sparka en åt andra, ibland riktigare håll. Motgångar, besvikelser testar dig, testar din uthållighet. - Är du här för att stanna? Tror du själv på vad du gör? Är det något du måste förändra. Jag är här för att stanna. Jag har t.om. börjat måla som en del av processen. Inte för att visa upp men för mig själv. Jag är här. med min musik, mina bilder. Ingen kan ta det ifrån mig. Gå på… Setbacks. Before the journey even began, I have already encountered setbacks. It's part of working like I do. Sometimes, unfortunately, it halts the entire process, but not this time. What happened was that I presented my idea to an inspiring place in the middle of Oslo. They were positive, and we even set a tentative date. But now it turns out they need some time for "reflection" on the way forward (maybe due to money, who knows), so my idea is "on hold," at least for performing there. When setbacks don't stop the process, they can emphasize trust in the idea and push you in other, sometimes better, directions. Setbacks and disappointments test you, test your endurance. Are you here to stay? Do you believe in what you are doing? Is there something you need to change? I am here to stay. I have even started painting as part of the process. Not to show off, but for myself. I am here, with my music and my paintings. No one can take that away from me. Paths. - Stigar. Jag har aldrig varit bra på att gå uppstigna vägar, det är som att det stretar emot. Jag gillar den sidan av mig men samtidigt, är den jäkla jobbig. Livet skulle vara enklare om jag bara kunde ställa mig i ledet, kopiera och luta mig tillbaka. Jag vet inte hur man lutar sig tillbaka. Det är kanske det jag är allra sämst på. Inuti bor en eld som sparkar mig vidare. Jag känner mig ofta som en galopphäst som står i boxen innan hon ska få sträcka ut på banan. Så känner jag speciellt när andra hindrar mig, kräver min tid, vill tjafsa, eller prata om oväsentligheter. Det kan låta hårt, jag vet, men jag är bara ärlig. Som jag skrev igår skriver jag detta för mig själv. Och jodå, det här ska bli något. Jag vill skriva under den kreativa resa jag är på just nu för att understryka mitt engagemang med projektet ifråga. Ett projekt som legat och surrat i flera år. De första stegen är redan tagna. Bilden är från min älskade, smått vilda trädgård för bara en liten stund sedan. Maria. Paths. I've never been good at following well-trodden paths; it feels like it goes against the grain. I like that side of myself, but at the same time, it’s damn exhausting. Life would be easier if I could just fall in line, copy, and relax. I don’t know how to relax. It's probably the thing I'm worst at. Inside me, there’s a fire that drives me forward. I often feel like a racehorse in the gate, just before she gets to stretch out on the track. I especially feel this way when others hold me back, demand my time, want to argue, or talk about trivialities. It may sound harsh, I know, but I’m just being honest. As I said yesterday, I’m writing this for myself. And yes, it will become something. I want to document the creative journey I'm on now to underscore my commitment to the project at hand.
