Music begins when the body no longer stands in the way.

Maria Bovin de Labbé is a drummer, performer and university lecturer based in Norway. Her work explores the meeting between body and drumset — where lightness, presence and touch shape musical expression.

Maria performs solo, with bands and with dancers. She is the founder of Mindful Drumming, an approach that explores rhythm through space, lightness and melody.

Alongside her artistic work, she teaches at the Norwegian Academy of Music and mentors private students.
