SOLITUDE
A solo concert about solitude and the paradox of feeling safe in being alone

Enter this space without expectations, a white room without masks or shoulds.
Lean back and let the beat touch your heartbeat, the simple melodies find your soul.
You are alone and you are free.
But we're alone together.

SOLITUDE is a solo concert exploring the landscape of being alone - not as emptiness, but as a space of possibility, and safety. Through seven original compositions (Pippi, Venus, Emptiness, Intense, Journey, Q., Free, and Bold), the audience is invited into a white room representing solitude.
Using frame drums, marimba, and drum kit, combined with precomposed audio elements, each piece maps a different color within aloneness - from the playful defiance of Pippi to the regal strength of Q. (Queen), from the honest void of Emptiness to the liberation found in Bold.
This is music born from the paradox I discovered as a young drummer: that the stage, where I stand most exposed, is also where I feel most safe to simply be myself. SOLITUDE asks not whether you fear being alone, but what you might discover when you choose it.
All music composed and produced by Maria Bovin de Labbé. Concert sound engineer: Rune Strand.
“Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god.”
